Community Initiatives
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater North Texas
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater North Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families. Our programs are grassroots-driven to enable us to offer help where children and families need it most – right in their own communities. RMHC of Greater North Texas is part of a global network of Chapters making a positive impact on the lives of children and families in 65 countries and regions around the world.
Each year, RMHC of Greater North Texas grants more than $60,000 to 30 local high school seniors in the North Texas community. Funded by North Texas McDonald’s owner/operators and donations from the community, the annual scholarships recognize students for their outstanding academic achievements and community involvement. Since the Scholarship Program was founded in 1988, more than $2.5 million has been awarded to more than 1,500 North Texas high school seniors.
Education
Since 1985 the McDonald’s HACER National Scholarship Program has awarded more than $33 million in scholarship funds to over 17,000 Hispanic students. When HACER scholarship recipients are announced, local North Texas owner/operators honor those students located within their communities.
In partnership with Alkeme Health, McDonald’s Black & Positively Golden Scholarship Program aims to address healthcare disparities. The HBCU Mind for Gold initiative promotes culturally centric health & wellness information and resources. Recipients will receive lifetime subscriptions to Alkeme Gold platform, and the first 1250 applicants get 1-year subscriptions for free. The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and McDonald’s proudly support outstanding students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) with financial aid. Sixty-Three (63) scholars will receive up to $15,000 for the 2024-2025 academic year ($7,500 per semester), applicable to tuition and fees.
For over 15 years, McDonald’s has been a steadfast supporter of Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA) students in their educational pursuits. Our APA Next platform offers a spectrum of resources, all tailored to the evolving needs of our students. This past year, McDonald’s deepened its collaboration with APIA Scholars, granting an additional 40 scholarships, bringing the total to 95 McDonald’s/APIA Scholars in 2023. Looking ahead to the 2024-2025 academic year, McDonald’s is committed to continuing its partnership with APIA Scholars, ensuring ongoing support for APIA students in their educational journey.
